For two days a month from May 2010 to October 2010, ESPN STAR Sports will be organizing a mixed martial arts event called Martial Combat to be held at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore (the "MMA Event"). The MMA Event will bring together some of the toughest fighters from around the world.
How to submit an entry:

Submissions may only be made online.

a) a copy of your resume with an attached recent photograph of yourself; and
b) a video link to your entry piece.

Competition period:

The Competition period shall run from 1 April 2010 to 15 April 2010.
ESPN STAR Sports reserves the right to revise the timeline for submission of entries in its sole discretion. ESPN STAR Sports will not extend any deadline for submission of entry pieces based solely on the request of entrants.

For the series of MMA events, we are looking for talented individuals who will potentially be offered the opportunity to fill two important roles during the MMA event.

(a) TV Interviewer and Co-Host Minimum Requirements:
  • Fluent and articulate in English;
  • Understands or has a passion for martial arts and combat sports. An understanding of the MMA Event is essential; and
  • TV experience or hosting experience would be beneficial.

(b) Ring Announcer Minimum Requirements:
  • Fluent and articulate in English;
  • Understands or has a passion for martial arts and combat sports. An understanding of the MMA Event is essential;
  • TV experience or hosting experience would be beneficial; and
  • Previous large scale event Master of Ceremonies experience is essential.

TERMS & CONDITIONSCLOSE    

    GENERAL

  1. These rules are the general terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") that apply to the competition/s described at the URL address http://www.rwmartialcombat.com/contest.php ("Competition"), unless otherwise expressly stated. By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions, please do not enter the Competition.
  2. Specific rules relating to the Competition are displayed on the http://www.rwmartialcombat.com/contest.php web page posting (the "Site") for the Competition (the "Specific Rules") and are incorporated herein. In the event of discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and the Specific Rules, the Specific Rules shall prevail. If you do not accept the Specific Rules, please do not enter the Competition.
  3. ESPN STAR Sports reserves the right to cancel or modify the Competition, and amend the Specific Rules or these Terms and Conditions, at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within the Specific Rules or these Terms and Conditions. If you do not accept any changes to the Specific Rules and/or these Terms and Conditions, please do not continue to participate in the Competition.
  4. In the event of any dispute regarding the Terms and Conditions, Specific Rules, conduct of the Competition, results and any other matter relating to the Competition, the decision of ESPN STAR Sports shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

    5. QUALIFYING ENTRIES

  5. Unless otherwise stated in the Specific Rules, the Competition is open to residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and India other than those persons specified in clause 6 below.
  6. Employees and agents of any organizer or promoter of the Competition, ESPN, ESPN STAR Sports, STAR TV, the Walt Disney Company, or any advertising agency or web company connected with ESPN STAR Sports (the “Specified Companies”) or any subsidiary or associated company of the Specified Companies, as well as members of their families or households, are not eligible to enter the Competition. ESPN STAR Sports reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
  7. ESPN STAR Sports will assume (and by using the Site you warrant) that you have legal capacity to enter into the agreement set out in the Specific Rules and these Terms and Conditions (i.e., that you are of sufficient age (at least 21 years of age as at 1 January 2010) and mental capacity and are otherwise entitled to be legally bound in contract).
  8. By entering the Competition, you: a. warrant that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and the Specific Rules;
    b. warrant that all information submitted by you is true, accurate, current and complete;
    c. accept that all entries and any intellectual property rights subsisting therein, which are received by ESPN STAR Sports will become the property of ESPN STAR Sports and will not be returned; and
    d. warrant that your entry does not defame, cause injury or invade the privacy of or otherwise infringe or violate any applicable law, regulation, custom or intellectual property rights of any third party.
  9. ESPN STAR Sports reserves the right to disqualify or exclude any entrant from the Competition if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these Terms and Conditions and/or the Specific Rules.
  10. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Competition, ESPN STAR Sports may in its sole and absolute discretion select another winner from entries received before the specified closing date on the same criteria as the original entrant, such new winner to be subject to these Terms and Conditions and the Specific Rules.

    11. COMPETITION ENTRIES

  11. Competition entries must be completed in full and made in the manner and by the closing date (if any) specified in the Specific Rules. Failure to do so will disqualify the entry.
  12. Proof of dispatch cannot be accepted as proof of delivery. ESPN STAR Sports does not accept responsibility or liability for any failure to receive entries whether caused by any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorized access to entries, server functions, virus, bugs or otherwise.

    13. WINNERS

  13. Up to two (2) winners may be selected at the closing of the Competition, each of whom could potentially be offered a position as an independent contractor with ESPN STAR Sports performing the role of either: (a) TV Interviewer and Co-Host; or (b) Ring Announcer, each at the Mixed Martial Arts event to be held once per month at Resorts World, Sentosa, Singapore during the period May 2010 to October 2010 (exact dates to be confirmed) (the "MMA Event").
    Details of the potential positions are as follows:
    (a) Designation: TV Interviewer and Co-Host (1 position)
    Duration of Service: May 2010 – October 2010 (exact number of days per month to be confirmed)
    Broad Based Job Scope:
    • Reports to the MMA Event director;
    • Conducts interviews at the fighters weigh-in;
    • Conducts post-fight interviews; and
    • Co-hosts ESPN STAR Sports’ "Martial Combat" show.

    (b) Designation: Ring Announcer (1 position)
    Duration of Service: May 2010 – October 2010 (exact number of days per month to be confirmed)
    Broad Based Job Scope:
    • Reports to the MMA Event director;
    • Leads press conference introduction and announces fighters at weigh-in; and
    • Ring Announcer for the MMA Event.
  14. Any winners selected must fulfill the following minimum requirements:
    (a) TV Interviewer and Co-Host Minimum Requirements:
    • Fluent and articulate in English;
    • Understands or has a passion for martial arts and combat sports. An understanding of the MMA Event is essential; and
    • TV experience or hosting experience would be beneficial.
    (b) Ring Announcer Minimum Requirements:
    • Fluent and articulate in English;
    • Understands or has a passion for martial arts and combat sports. An understanding of the MMA Event is essential;
    • TV experience or hosting experience would be beneficial; and
    • Previous large scale event Master of Ceremonies experience is essential.
  15. Other factors the judge(s) will take into account in selecting the winners include without limitation, the entrant’s creativity, originality, audience appeal, and such other factors as the judge(s) deem appropriate in their sole and absolute discretion.
  16. Entrants hereby acknowledge and agree that the judge(s) reserve(s) the right not to select any winners. Entrants further acknowledge that if winners are selected, under no circumstances shall ESPN STAR Sports be obliged to offer any winner a position as an independent contractor with ESPN STAR Sports. Whether such an offer is made is at the sole and absolute discretion of ESPN STAR Sports. In the event that ESPN STAR Sports declines to make such an offer to any winner, ESPN STAR Sports shall be under no liability whatsoever to that winner.
  17. In all matters, the decision of the judge(s) shall be final and binding. No correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
  18. Potential winners will be contacted via their listed contact numbers and notified by email within seven (7) days of selection. Failure to reply within the time stated therein may result in disqualification.
  19. Enquiries regarding winners must be made via e-mail to mmatalentsearch@espnstar.com within thirty (30) days of the Competition closing date
  20. In the event ESPN STAR Sports proceeds to offer any entrant an independent contract with ESPN STAR Sports, the parties agree to negotiate that contract in good faith and entrants acknowledge that no relationship exists between him/her and ESPN STAR Sports until such a contract is executed.

    21. PHYSICAL AUDITION

  21. Any entrant to whom ESPN STAR Sports is considering offering an independent contract in relation to the MMA Event must be available to attend a physical audition in Singapore on the dates determined by ESPN STAR Sports. Such entrants should check with any relevant authorities regarding passport and visa requirements; it is the sole responsibility of entrants to produce all requisite travel documentation. Travel and other insurance will not be covered by ESPN STAR Sports and entrants are strongly advised to take out insurance cover for all appropriate risks. Any costs incurred additional to the elements expressly specified in the Specific Rules are at the sole expense of entrants.
  22. Following notification under clause 18, any entrants selected to attend a physical audition in Singapore will be emailed or posted a Liability Release Form (prepared by ESPN STAR Sports releasing, wherever permitted by law, the Specified Companies, their parent companies, affiliates, directors, officers, employees or agents from responsibility or liability for claims in respect of entrants’ travel to and attendance at the physical audition in Singapore) to be properly and fully completed by the relevant entrant. Completed Liability Release Forms for the entrant must be returned to ESPN STAR Sports in accordance with the notified instructions to arrive at the specified address by no later than 14 days after the date ESPN STAR Sports emails or posts the Liability Release Form. Failure to comply in any respect with this requirement will result in the relevant entrant being prevented from attending the audition and ESPN STAR Sports may at its sole and absolute discretion select another entrant for audition.
  23. All taxes, insurances, transfers, spending money and other expenses (including meals or personal expenses, upgrades etc.) as the case may be incurred by an entrant when travelling to or attending the audition in Singapore, unless specifically stated, are the sole responsibility of the entrant.
  24. Any entrant attending a physical audition in Singapore agrees that he/she will act in a sportsmanlike manner throughout the audition and will not disrupt, annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

    25. LIABILITY

  25. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ESPN STAR Sports shall not be liable for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the Competition or as a result of inability to participate in the Competition. ESPN STAR Sports is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition.
  26. By entering, entrants agree that no claim relating to such losses or injuries (including special, indirect and consequential losses) shall be asserted against the Specified Companies, their parent companies, affiliates, directors, officers, employees or agents for any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind resulting from entry into the Competition or inability to participate in the Competition.

    27. INDEMNITY

  27. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and keep indemnified ESPN STAR Sports, its officers, directors, employees, agents, distributors and affiliates from and against any and all claims, loss, damage or liability suffered and fees and costs incurred, including reasonable legal fees, resulting from any act, neglect or default or breach by you or any person who may be authorized by you or for whom you are responsible, of any of these Terms and Conditions and/or from your placement or transmission of any content onto ESPN STAR Sports’ servers and/or from any and all use of your account.

    28. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY

  28. By entering a Competition, entrants agree that should they win the Competition, ESPN STAR Sports may use their names and addresses, photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity or promotional material as ESPN STAR Sports may in its sole and absolute discretion decide.
  29. Unless otherwise indicated, any information provided to ESPN STAR Sports shall be subject to ESPN STAR Sports’ Privacy Policy (found on the ESPN STAR Sports website at www.espnstar.com).

    30. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  30. You acknowledge and agree that all copyright and trade marks and all other intellectual property rights in the ESPN STAR Sports website and all material or content contained within it shall remain at all times owned by ESPN STAR Sports or our licensors. All material and content contained within the ESPN STAR Sports website is made available for your personal non-commercial use only and you acknowledge and agree that you may download such material and content onto only one computer hard drive for such purpose. Any other use of the material and content on the ESPN STAR Sports website is strictly prohibited.

    31. GOVERNING LAW

  31. This Competition, the Specific Rules and the Terms and Conditions shall be governed in all respects by the laws of Singapore.
  32. Each entrant is fully responsible for ensuring that his/her participation in the Competition is lawful in accordance with the laws of the country of which he or she is a citizen and/or resides, and/or happens to be at the time that the application is made. None of the Specified Companies, their servants or agents make any representations, express or implied, as to the lawfulness of the Competition or any entrant's participation in a Competition.
