There are simple rules on what to do and not do during carpet cleaning to improve its life span and space out the cleaning durations. They include:
Prevention is the best solution to carpet cleaning. Using the carpet properly will eventually save you a lot of money that would have been spent on cleaning it.
A carpet stain should not carelessly and roughly be rubbed as this action will only advance the stain area or worse, make it permanent. It also increases the rate of wear because rash rubbing weakens the fibre.
Poorly and shoddily treated stains eventually reappear on the carpet surface. To make sure this never occurs, place a heavy but absorbent material on the stain or add some weight on the material for some time to suck out as much of the stain as possible. After which you can clean the carpet in a normal way.
Using a hair dryer or hot iron to try and dry a stain on the carpet is a complete no-no as doing this will only help in reinforcing the stain and makes it permanent. Always ensure to act immediately instead of letting the stain to settle.
Vacuuming often to remove the loose dirt will always leave your carpet clean and make it last long.
